Gun Laws Don't Work

Pro-gun. Pro-America. Pro-Constitution. Pro-2nd Amendment. Pro-freedom.

7 Dead over the weekend in Chicago

In spite of ridiculously draconian gun laws in the state of Illionois, there are still gun deaths because criminals don’t obey the law.

Man Shot While Driving

In New York City a man was shot while driving, crashed his car, and later died at a nearby hospital. No arrests have been made.

New York City gun laws:

A license is required to possess a handgun for any purpose. The Commissioner of the New York City Police Department is the issuing authority for handgun licenses.

There are different handgun licenses with different privileges granted under each. A license for a handgun shall be issued to: (1) have and possess in a dwelling by a householder; (2) have and possess in his place of business by a merchant or storekeeper; (3) have and carry concealed for employment purposes; (4) have and carry concealed, without regard to employment or place of possession; (5) possess a target handgun; and (6) have, possess, collect and carry antique pistols.

The applicant for a handgun license must:

1. Be of “good moral character.”

2. Not have been convicted of a felony or a serious offense.

3. Not have suffered from a mental illness or been hospitalized for mental illness.

4. Be a person concerning whom “no good cause exists” for the denial of the license.

To obtain a handgun license to possess in a household or place of business, or to possess a target pistol, no showing of need is required. The applicant must meet the eligibility requirements listed above. The application procedure includes fingerprinting and the submission of 2 photos of the applicant. The non-refundable application fee of all licenses is $170.00 for the first two years. Licenses may not be issued for more than 3 years and renewals are $170.00 for two years.

Only a licensed handgun owner is allowed to possess ammunition suitable for the licensed handgun and is allowed to possess an ammunition feeding device for the licensed handgun, but not to exceed 17 rounds capacity.

So what do you think the chances are that the shooter obtained his weapon lawfully?

Student arrested for Defending Himself

Student Gerald Ung defends himself against multiple aggressors.

Watch the video. See a student being outnumbered, retreating, being rushed, and then defending himself.
See law enforcement arresting the student for legally defending himself.

What scenario might we have seen had the student not been armed and able to defend himself?

Delivering Pizza becoming Deadly in Pennsylvania

In Philadelphia, men trying to earn money to support themselves and their children are being gunned down by worthless punks for a few bucks.

And the gunlaws of Pennsylvania have had zero effect.

I’d like to see this scenario:

“Welcome to Pizza Barn. We want our customers to know that we put safety first. Please be advised that our delivery men and women are armed and fully prepared to protect themselves. Now, for our daily specials, press 1.”

More Gun Violence in Chicago

There was more gun violence in Chicago this past holiday weekend. Can the anti-gunners explain why a city with such strict gun control laws in a state with such strict gun control laws continues to experience such a high volume of gun-related crime?

I can.

Miami Officials Call for Assault Weapons Ban

A masked gunman opened fire on mostly other teens with an AK-47, killing and wounding several individuals. At this time, the criminal has not been captured. The Miami Police Chief and others are calling for a nationwide ban on “assault weapons”.

Miami’s crime is higher than the national average.

Sounds like it’s a culture problem, not a gun problem.

From Webster’s Dictionary:

Assault:

A violent physical or verbal attack
A threat or attempt to inflict offensive physical contact or bodily harm on a person (as by lifting a fist in a threatening manner)

So a fist is an “assault weapon”. I think all fists ought to be banned from the streets of America.

By the way, here’s a few gun laws of Florida:

It is unlawful for:
• any convicted felon to have in his or her possession any firearm or to carry a concealed weapon unless his civil rights have been restored.
• The following persons to own, possess or use any firearm – drug addicts, alcoholics, mental incompetents, and vagrants.
• To sell, give, barter, lend or transfer a firearm or other weapon other than an ordinary pocketknife to a minor less than the age of 18 without his parent’s permission, or to any person of unsound mind.
• Any dealer to sell or transfer any firearm, pistol, Springfield rifle or other repeating rifle to a minor.
• A minor less than 18 years of age to possess a firearm, other than an unloaded firearm at his home, unless engaged in lawful activities.
No licensed gun dealer, manufacturer or importer shall sell or deliver any firearm to another person until he has obtained a completed form from the potential buyer or transferee and received approval from the Department of Law Enforcement by means of a toll-free telephone call.
Florida has mandatory sentence enhancements for any serious felony, such as murder, rape, aggravated assault, burglary or robbery, committed with a firearm. The penalty is increased if a machine gun or a semiautomatic firearm with magazine capacity of more than 20 centerfire cartridges is possessed during a serious felony or narcotics offense.
It is unlawful to knowingly discharge a firearm in any public place, or on the right of way of any paved public road, highway or street or over any road, highway, street or occupied building, except in defense of life or property, in performance of official duties or where expressly approved for hunting.
It is unlawful to have or carry a firearm in the presence of one or more persons and exhibit the firearm in a rude, careless, angry, or threatening manners, except in cases of self-defense.

So what does this tell us after the recent shootings in Miami?

Pastor Killed before Sunday Services

Pastor Fred Winters was gunned down and killed in front of his congregation on Sunday, March 8, 2009 in Maryville Illinois.

Rev. Winters was shot three times, and was pronounced dead at Anderson Hospital.

The gunman’s .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol jammed after the fourth shot was fired.

This horrible tradgedy happened in spite of the fact that Illinois has some of the toughest gun laws in the country.

In Illinois, it is against the law to carry a concealed weapon.

In Illinois,a buyer is required to show his mandatory Firearms Owner’s Identification Card (FOID) when purchasing any firearms or ammunition.

In Illinois,it is unlawful for any person to possess any firearm with intent to use it unlawfully against another.

In Illinois, it is against the law to possess a firearm if within the past five years you have been a patient in a mental hospital.

In Illinois, It is unlawful to carry or possess any firearm in any vehicle or concealed on or about the person, except on one’s land or one’s fixed place of business.

In Illinois, It is unlawful to carry or possess any firearm on any public street or other public lands within the corporate limits of a city, village, or incorporated town.

If only someone in the congregation could have had a legal permit to carry a weapon, as many other states allow, maybe the Pastor would still be alive  today.
